Can We Have Some Quiet Please?
By Warwick Williams
Prolonged exposure to excessive noise is an insidious occupational hazard.
The best way to reduce exposure is to involve employees in establishing solutions.
The effect of noise exposure is cumulative. It takes a long time for the results of noise exposure and subsequent noise injury to become apparent in the form of hearing loss.
Studies show workers are more likely to participate in the implementation of a solution to a problem if they have helped to generate the solution themselves, rather than having the solution forced upon them.
