Religious Discrimination: Does it Need Legal Support?

Many ethnic groups have complained of discriminatory and abusive behaviour towards them based on their religious beliefs, particularly since September 11, 2001 and more recently the Bali Bombing.
Diane Sisely, CEO of the Victorian Equal Opportunity Commission says that federal religious discrimination laws are needed. At present only in Victoria is it against the law to discriminate on the basis of religious belief or activity. Sisely says that every workplace should have a policy.
