The Rise and Fall of Organising in a Blue-Collar Union
By Gerard Griffin and Rosetta Moors
The growth of organising activity in a blue-collar, manufacturing union.
An outline of the philosophy behind the decision to adopt an organisng strategy in 1994 and it examines the reasons underlying the move away from this approach and then the reason for its re-adoption in 1999. The level of commitment and the zeal of the union leadership are the main factors in determining the depth of the culture of organising. The authors feel that the culture is firmly embedded in the union now, whereas it was at a more surface level in 1994.
