United Voice (formerly the Liquor Hospitality and Miscellaneous Union) is a union organisation of over 120,000 Australians, united by our belief in the dignity of work and the right to fair and just treatment at work. We are an active union in the workplace, community and in politics, and are passionate about organising to achieve positive social change based on the values of fairness, compassion and equity.
United Voice members are people of diverse races, genders and ages and do essential work in hundreds of different industries, sectors and occupations. The main industry groups in Victoria are Early Childhood Education and Care, Manufacturing, Cleaning, Hotels, Casino, Ambulance and Security.
A union organiser’s main focus is to grow union membership, density and leadership by employing a variety of union building techniques which cover skill in sign up, systematic member contact, messaging and objection handling.
The incumbent in this role will have:
-Excellent communication and influencing skills
-An understanding of the Labour movement.
-Confidence and interest in talking to people
-Ability to build rapport with a range of different people
-Drivers licence now or soon

Essential Experience and Qualifications
Experience in one of the following; unions, community service, social justice, student or other activist campaigns, volunteer work or a relevant social sciences, industrial relations or related degree.
