ALP & Refugee Policy Public Meeting

Where: LHMU Auditorium, 187 Thomas Street, Haymarket
When: 08 April 2002

Finish time: 8.30 pm


This forum will be an opportunity to find out more detail of the policies of mandatory detention and temporary protection visas, and explore other countries policies and practices for refugees. It will discuss the detail of Labor for Refugees demands for an end to mandatory detention and the pacific solution in the face of proposed changes to ALP Federal Policy.

Speakers at the meeting will be John Robertson (Secretary, Unions NSW), Pat Lee (IEU), Nick Poynder (Refugee Lawyer) and Amanda Tattersall (Labor for Refugees). The fourm will be a good opportunity for ALP members and union officials interested in Refugees Policy to learn more on what the current situation is and where we can more forward to in the lead up to ALP State Conference.
