Employee Volunteering Forum Circulars

C529/01

19 September 2001

Circular To: All Affiliates

RE: Employee Volunteering Forum

Dear Colleague,

Please find attached details of a forum on Employee Volunteering to be held 9am to 1pm on Thursday, 27th September, at the State Chamber of Commerce, Level 12, 83 Clarence Street, Sydney.

Volunteers have been in the spotlight as this is the International Year of the Volunteer. The use of volunteers is being promoted as a positive way people can give back to their local communities. While there are many advantages, there are significant disadvantages if not managed well.

Unions need to be aware of the issues, particularly when business seeks to embark on a volunteering program for staff. This forum is therefore timely for unions, and affiliates are encouraged to attend.

Yours fraternally

Alison Peters

Deputy Assistant Secretary, Community Affairs
