RE: Control of Major Hazard Facilities in NSW
Dear Colleague,
The Major Hazard Unit of the Department of Urban Affairs and Planning and the NSW Labor Council are holding joint consultative meetings to discuss the State program for the Control of Major Hazard Facilities in NSW.
Two Breakfast meetings have been planned. These are:
- Tuesday 16 October 2001, 7.30 am - 10.30 am
Parramatta Leagues Club, 13 O'Connell Street Parramatta, and
- Thursday 18 October 2001, 7.30 am - 10.30 am
Randwick Labor Club, 135 Alison Road Randwick.
Representatives of the NSW Trade Unions, the Labor Council of NSW and officers of relevant government agencies, such as the NSW Department of Urban Affairs and Planning and WorkCover NSW will be attending these breakfast meetings.
The main objectives of the proposed breakfast meetings are to:
- Discuss recent technical, policy and regulatory developments in the NSW program for the Control of Major Hazard Facilities.
- Provide a forum for the Trade Union movement to have an input into the implementation of the program in NSW.
- Initiate the development of an effective mechanism for future consultation between the Trade Unions and the relevant government agencies.
Unions officials, delegates and members are encouraged to attend this breakfast meeting as your attendance will be invaluable in presenting the workers' perspective on the prevention of major accidents in these facilities, and contributing to the implementation of the program in NSW.
